BCBG Max Azria S/S 2013

This season Max and Lubov Azria drew inspiration from the iconic black-and-white photography of Helmut Newton. The S/S 2013 collection featured an array of delicate lace and silk crepe dresses juxtaposed by harsh and edgy leather harnesses strapped around the models’ torsos recalled Newton’s femme fatales. The combination of the two translated into a sexy lingerie-esque collection that felt totally wearable outside of the bedroom.

Hemlines were lengthened to mid-calf or floor-length, backs were exposed through peek-a-boo cutouts covered in lace. The color palette was minimal focusing on blacks, whites, soft pinks, and the occasional vintage-washed chambray blue that added a more casual element to a collection that begged for evening soirees.
And the leather harnesses strapped around the models’ torsos recalled Newton’s femme fatales.
